Pneumonia vaccine is given for people under age 65. This is the case when you are immuno suppressed. If you have had spleen problems, cardiac, lung, renal or heart problems or COPD, or even organ transplants, you would be asked to take it if you are under 65. If you are asthmatic or if you smoke cigars, you might be asked to take it even if you are under 65
