Generally the pneumococcal vaccine shot taken once would suffice for lifetime. No one should get PPSV23 more than 2 times in general. But in case of people with reduced immunity, namely people with COPD, lung infections, heart problems, spleen removal, aged above 65 years, people with HIV and the like would require booster shots. The booster can be taken at least once in 5 years
