If patient has very high fever, shortness of breath, or in shock, hospital care may be necessary. For mild, unproblematic cases, bed rest, a lot of fluids and Tylenol for pain are good enough. A mechanical ventilator is essential for providing respiratory support to a patient unable to breathe normally.
